Celtics Show They Can Score In Every Gear Against Bulls

Boston's 125-111 win over Chicago proves they have multiple scoring ways. The team moved the ball well and beat the Bulls on Friday.

The Boston Celtics proved on Friday night that they do not need just one way to win games. They crushed the Chicago Bulls 125-111 in their NBA Cup opener. This was not a fluke or a lucky night. The team showed it can score from the paint and from deep. Payton Pritchard led the charge with 30 points, but the real story was how the whole team moved the ball. NESN reported that Boston tallied 28 assists while shooting 51.2 percent from the field. That kind of balance is what makes them dangerous this season.

The Scoring Mix Is Unstoppable

Most teams rely on one star to carry the load, but Boston does not play like that. Jayson Tatum contributed 26 points alongside seven rebounds and seven assists. Paul George contributed 18 points and eight assists. The three leading scorers totaled 74 points, representing almost 60 percent of the team’s score. Boston also netted 56 points inside the paint while converting 10 three-pointers. This mix of inside power and outside shooting is what the Bulls could not handle. The bench players helped too, with Neemias Queta adding 13 points and Mitchell Robinson finishing with 11.

Such depth enabled Boston to build an early lead and maintain it as Chicago attempted a comeback. A 32-point advantage was secured late in the second quarter. This margin provided starters sufficient rest to manage the remainder of the contest. Although the final difference was 14 points, the Celtics dominated for most of the evening. Yahoo Sports observed that Boston improved to 4-1 during the young season thanks to this victory. Securing the tournament’s opening match is promising, yet the true challenge lies ahead.

Second Half Slump Needs Fixing

There is one problem that Joe Mazzulla must fix before the next game. The Celtics looked serious for the first 24 minutes, then the Bulls started making things interesting. Chicago outscored Boston 62-47 in the second half, reducing a 32-point lead to 14 by the final buzzer. The Bulls made the game less comfortable after halftime. They won the second half by 15 points and reduced Boston’s final margin to 14. Those 18 points lost along the way might return to trouble them later.

Four former patients who visited practice the day before signed the shooting shirts worn by the team, while players lined the court for the national anthem. A young fan displayed a sign stating, “Boston’s children saved my life.” The emotional moment was powerful, but the team needs to stay locked in for the full 48 minutes. They must face each of these four opponents to determine who advances. History indicates that teams achieving 4-0 in group play possess a perfect record of advancing. The championship game is set for Dec. 11.
