TreVeyon Henderson is moving too fast for his own good. The second-year back is struggling to find his rhythm, and Brown thinks the fix is simple: watch some tape.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, following New England’s 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears, the critique arrived. Brown thinks the former Ohio State star lacks the patience needed to succeed in this league. According to Heavy.com, Brown told the Patriots’ postgame show that “He’s just too fast and he reacts to things too fast.”

Fixing the vision problem

It is about how he sees the field. Brown wants Henderson to study Kenneth Walker III. Walker is the reigning Super Bowl MVP, having beaten New England in February. According to Heavy.com, Brown thinks Henderson ought to focus closely on Walker. He even said, “He needs to sit down and watch Kenneth Walker, he really does.”

The goal is to let lanes open up. Brown wants Henderson to wait for blockers to finish their jobs instead of just lunging at the first gap he sees. If he can learn to be patient, he might actually become the weapon the Patriots drafted him to be.

A breakdown in pass protection

Henderson is also failing where he was supposed to be a strength. When he was drafted in the second round in 2025, people expected him to be great at blocking. According to NESN, Henderson earned a terrible 8.6 out of 100 grade for pass protection during Thursday’s loss to Chicago.

He was the worst offensive player on the roster that night. He only had three carries for nine yards. He also caught two passes for 14 yards. It was a very quiet night for a player who led the team in touches and yards during his rookie season. If he cannot protect the quarterback, his time on the field will vanish.

Mike Vrabel knows the ground game was bad. Per Yahoo Sports, the head coach admitted the team did not run well enough on Thursday. He did say, “TreVeyon will help us plenty here down the stretch.” Whether he can actually do that depends on his ability to slow down.
